The FieldScout TDR250 Soil Moisture Meter is the most economic option that measures Soil Moisture (VWC - Volumetric Water Content) and Surface Temperature. The backlit display allows for easy reading even in the early morning hours. TDR rods are sold separately and are REQUIRED. Choose from 1.5" (3.8cm), 3" (7/6cm), 4.8" (12.2cm) and 8" (20cm) rods to match your needs. Data can be collected with a USB flash drive. (Case is NOT included)

Complete Moisture Characteristics in 3-5 Days

HYPROP is a modular lab instrument that generates a moisture characteristic curve and determines the unsaturated hydraulic conductivity of soil samples in standard 250 ml soil sampling rings. After setup the system generates the moisture characteristic while running unattended.

Highly Accurate

Two precision mini-tensiometers measure water potential at different levels within the sample while the sample rests on a precision laboratory scale (2000 gram range; 0.01 gram resolution). As the sample dries, changes in water potential are correlated to changes in moisture content using the Wind/Schindler evaporation method.

Verified Results

Results are verified and values for dry range and saturation are calculated according to a selected model (i.e., van Genuchten/Mualem, Bimodal van Genuchten/Mualem, or Brooks and Corey.) Model parameters can be selected before, during, or after the measurement procedure.

Limitations

• The measuring range is limited to the measuring range of the Tensiometers

Measuring system

The measuring principle of the SWM 5000 is based on the latest FDR technology (Frequent Domain Reflectometry). It enables fast and precise determination of soil moisture. Temperature is measured by an internal NTC sensor. The central hardware component is a robust stainless steel measuring probe, which is hydraulically or manually pressed into the ground. Measuring sensors are located in the probe tip during manual measurement.

The SWM 5000 soil moisture lance has been designed as stand-alone unit (handheld meter and measuring probe).

The Xtreem multi-profile soil moisture recording kit comes with everything you need to get started. There is no need to open the logger to get your data out as it wirelessly connects to your phone/tablet. With extended battery life there is even less need to open the logger. The batteries are now relatively eco friendly Alkaline which makes them easier to purchase and dispose of.  Your data is stored in a cloud database provided by AWS ( Amazon Web Services ). There is a small annual charge for this of NZ$15.
